American suffragists are women who fought for the equal rights of women in education, property ownership, to hold political offices, and the right to vote.
VOTES FOR WOMEN
An exhibition of art by girls & women celebrating the 19th Amendment and its passing 96 years ago on August 18th, 1920
The 19th Amendment was long fought for by the American suffragists, this amendment finally granted women the right to vote. This exhibition lies on the eve of the 2016 presidential election where the rights of women are in the balance. Likewise, this election marks the first ever woman presidential candidate to represent a major political party. Still without equal pay for equal work we recognize women rights are human rights and remember how far we have come.
